Spanish football great enjoys family getaway in Oman

MUSCAT: Spanish football icon Andrés Iniesta is enjoying a family retreat in Oman’s picturesque Musandam region following the start of a new chapter in his illustrious football career as head coach of Gulf United FC in the UAE.

Photos shared on his Instagram account showed the former FC Barcelona and Spain midfielder spending quality time with his family at a luxury resort, just days after officially taking charge of the Dubai-based club.

The getaway comes as Iniesta embarks on his first senior managerial role after a glittering playing career that saw him establish himself as one of the greatest midfielders in football history.

Earlier this month, Gulf United announced the appointment of the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner as head coach, marking a significant step in his transition from football legend to professional coach.

Iniesta, who turned 42 this year, has already earned his UEFA A Licence and is continuing his coaching education as he works toward obtaining the UEFA Pro Licence, the highest coaching qualification in European football.
