Muscat Municipal Council reviews mechanisms for connecting buildings to broadband services
Muscat: The Muscat Municipal Council commenced its ninth meeting for this year, chaired by Sayyid Saud Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, and in the presence of the Chairman of Muscat Municipality.
The Council began by reviewing a statement presented by the Muscat Municipality regarding connecting buildings to broadband services, as part of efforts aimed at enhancing the readiness of the infrastructure qualified to accommodate the service within the Governorate.
The statement included a review of the technical and regulatory aspects related to providing broadband services in buildings and real estate complexes.
It also addressed the main challenges that arise when dealing with existing buildings that lack the necessary requirements for internal extensions, including the disparity between tenant requests and the positions of some property owners regarding the implementation of required modifications. This directly affects the efficiency of request completion and the fluidity of field work carried out by the service provider company.
The statement also highlighted the necessity of developing regulatory procedures related to broadband connection, in addition to the legal and procedural aspects that require enhanced institutional coordination to address these issues, thereby ensuring the sustainability and seamless procedures of the service and unifying technical standards to guarantee the quality of digital services.
In the context of enhancing community partnership and organizing volunteer work, the Council reviewed the recommendations of the Social Affairs Committee regarding the "Ayadi" platform.
This platform provides modern digital tools to organize volunteer efforts and connect volunteers with relevant institutions in a more efficient and effective manner. The importance of raising community awareness about the platform and enhancing its media presence was emphasized, which contributes to supporting volunteer initiatives and enabling the community to benefit from available opportunities, thus reinforcing the role of volunteer work as a sustainable development tributary in the Governorate.
In the context of focusing on community initiatives, the Council reviewed the recommendations of the Governorate Development Committee regarding the proposed "Al Hayy (The Neighborhood) Competition".
This competition aims to promote positive competition among residential neighborhoods and improve the environment and community services.
To enhance the health aspect in educational institutions, the Council reviewed the outcomes of the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee regarding the latest developments in drinking water testing in government schools in Muscat Governorate. The necessity of completing the testing procedures in coordination with the relevant authorities was emphasized.
In addition, the Council ratified the minutes of its previous meeting and reviewed development and service topics within the Wilayats of the Governorate, as part of its efforts to enhance the efficiency of urban planning and developing the urban environment.
