Oman participates in preparatory meeting for 46th GCC Summit

Manama: The Sultanate of Oman participated today in the 166th Session of the Ministerial Council Preparatory Meeting for the 46th Session of the Supreme Council of the GCC countries.

The meeting was held in the Bahraini capital, Manama, chaired by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Omani delegation to the meeting was headed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister.

The preparatory Ministerial Session addressed a number of cooperation files and joint Gulf action in the political, economic, security, and developmental fields, thus promoting pathways for integration among the Council states.

The outcomes of this preparatory meeting are intended to enhance practical initiatives that serve the interests of the member states, achieve greater prosperity and growth for their nations, and reinforce the pillars of security and stability in the region.

Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Chairman of the current Ministerial Council Session, stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain's hosting of the 46th Supreme Council Summit embodies the commitment of GCC states to continue fostering the journey of Gulf cooperation and achievements that have been overseen by the GCC Leaders for over forty years. He added that it also reflects their keenness to continue preserving the cohesion and solidarity of the GCC, and their determination to move forward toward greater cooperation and integration.

He added that the GCC has proven its ability to face regional and international challenges over the past years, making it an effective and influential regional entity in enhancing security and stability. Its developmental achievements have become a model for sound planning and wise vision, and it is now, with pride, held in great global esteem.

He emphasized the importance of continuing to evaluate the achievements of collective action, adopting positions and resolutions that enhance the GCC's performance, the solidarity of its member states, and the unity of positions, continuing the commitment to driving the development process for the benefit of the citizens of the GCC states, championing just Arab causes, safeguarding Arab national security, guaranteeing the rights of Arab peoples to security, stability, and a decent life, and cooperating with the international community to maintain global peace and security and promote sustainable development for the good of all humanity.

For his part, Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC, welcomed the Kingdom of Bahrain's hosting of the 46th Session of the Supreme Council and expressed his gratitude to the State of Kuwait for its presidency of the previous session of the Council, highlighting the approach and performance that contributed to the success of the Council's meetings and the enhancement of the joint Gulf action process.

Al Budaiwi affirmed the continued diligence of the General Secretariat and all its affiliates in implementing their supreme directives and moving forward in the path of joint Gulf action to achieve the desired Gulf integration.

He noted the importance of embodying the dimensions of Gulf cooperation, enhancing the axes of regional and international cooperation, which they hope will result in constructive decisions and recommendations that add a new building block to the edifice of the GCC journey. He clarified that these items, with their depth and breadth, clearly reflect the regional and international weight of the GCC and reinforce the fact that the achievements made by the Council states on the path of Gulf integration are proceeding steadily in the right direction, consistent with the aspirations and ambitions of the Gulf peoples for greater interconnectedness and prosperity.
