Agreement signed to support sustainable educational and technological projects

Muscat: The Ministry of Education and Sohar Aluminium today signed an agreement to contribute to supporting a number of educational projects. These projects include the Digital Transformation Project, the School Cybersecurity Initiative, and the Green Schools Project, all of which will be implemented in a selection of government schools across various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Education by Majid Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and on behalf of Sohar Aluminium by Eng. Said Mohammed Al Masoudi, Chief Executive Officer of the company.

The agreement aims to enhance the quality of education by integrating technology and sustainability into the school environment. The company's contribution includes support for: Providing interactive screens and other technological means to schools in the South Al Batinah Governorate.

As per the agreement, the School Cybersecurity Initiative in Al Buraimi Governorate schools includes forming school teams equipped with the necessary knowledge, tools, devices, and software. Students will receive practical training in cybersecurity through specialized educational platforms.

As for the Green Schools Project in North Al Batinah and Musandam Governorates schools, school activities and practical experiments will be established through specialized educational platforms, organizing field visits, workshops, and lectures, and supporting student projects and innovations in the environmental field.

These projects and initiatives seek to employ modern technologies in education, build student awareness of cybersecurity, which will contribute to achieving integration between embedded technology in the classroom environment and the educational process by providing interactive technical means that help activate digital curricula and interactive platforms.

Furthermore, the Green Schools Project will contribute to promoting environmental sustainability practices in schools by equipping students with the necessary knowledge about the circular economy and sustainability, thereby reflecting on their understanding of ways to preserve the environment, demonstrating the value of natural resources, and instilling sustainable behaviors that contribute to environmental preservation.
