Oman's Foreign Minister calls for inclusive regional security at Manama Dialogue 2025

Muscat: At the 21st Regional Security Summit, Manama Dialogue 2025, Oman's Foreign Minister, His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, delivered a powerful address emphasizing the urgent need for inclusive and cooperative approaches to regional security.

Speaking before a distinguished audience of diplomats, policymakers, and strategic experts, Minister Albusaidi rejected policies of isolation and exclusion, asserting that true security can only be achieved through dialogue and constructive engagement among all nations in the region. “Extremism fuels extremism,” he warned, “and hostility only deepens distrust.”

The Sultanate of Oman, he noted, has consistently advocated for a regional security framework that includes all stakeholders—particularly Iran. He praised Iran’s demonstrated openness and restraint in the face of provocations, highlighting its readiness for dialogue and its proposals for regional security cooperation.

Albusaidi also condemned unilateral actions that violate international law, citing the U.S. travel ban on Iran as a destabilizing measure. He stressed that isolating any nation only fosters extremism and undermines efforts toward peace.

HE added: “Israel - not Iran - is the primary source of insecurity in the region through its aggressive actions and escalatory policies. Israel's unlawful attacks have undermined progress made in the Iranian-U.S. negotiations and have caused the deaths of hundreds of innocent Iranian civilians. Such Israeli practices constitute a serious violation of international law”. and highlight Israel's deliberate attempt to prolong tension in the region.

In a broader appeal, the minister called for sustained diplomacy, mutual respect, and shared values as the foundation for a secure and prosperous future. “A secure region cannot be built through force and hostility,” he concluded, “but through understanding, constructive dialogue, and responsible policies.”

The Manama Dialogue, organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), continues to serve as a vital platform for shaping the future of Middle Eastern security through open exchange and strategic collaboration.
