Mercedes-Benz Barbarians crowned champions

Muscat: Mercedes-Benz Barbarians defeated a stubborn challenge from England to lift the MRFC Mercedes-Benz Touch Tournament.
The tournament was a resounding success with 12 teams and with over 140 players taking part.
This annual event is a way to introduce people to MRFC and the sport of rugby in a friendly atmosphere.
The games were played in high spirits but hotly contested.
France 1 took the honours in the Shield event, the third placed competition.
Ireland 2 ran out winners in the Bowl, while in the main event it was the Barbarians all the way.
The event was further proof of the role that MRFC plays within Muscat.
In his statement to the media, Conor Quaid said: "The Club's continued growth can only benefit the social life of the city. Muscat Rugby Football Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Mercedes-Benz for the sponsorship of the event, and look forward to their continued support."
The twelve teams were divided into three groups with Group 1 comprising of Canada, Ireland 1, Mercedes-Benz Barbarians and New Zealand.
England, France 2, Scotland and Somalia formed Group 2, while the teams in Group 3 were South Africa, France 1, Ireland 2 and Sohar.
