Muscat: A series meetings to highlight the Ministry of Tourism’s achievements and upcoming plans to its representatives in 22 countries has begun.
The bi-annual Market-based Representative Meetings, bring together officials from 22 countries that the Ministry provides services to through its 10 international offices. They showcase MoT’s achievements and highlights for 2016, in addition to upcoming projects in the tourism sector in Oman. The National Tourism Strategy 2040, which is expected to begin this year, will also be an important point of discussion.
The Ministry of Tourism’s Market-based Representative Meetings will also include a series of meetings at the Ministry with the Directorate General for Tourism Promotion, who will be presenting its marketing plan for the upcoming year, inclusive of branding, creative work, social media and digital platforms management, and finally offer a training course in crisis communications.
Different stakeholders, such as Oman Air and Oman Sail, will also discuss their latest activities and promotions. Additionally, a tourism workshop will be held at the Grand Hyatt, Muscat, which will be attended by various tourism companies, including hotels, travel agencies and tour operators.
Further, Asma Al Hajri, Deputy Director General, International Tourism Promotions, noted, “This meeting will serve as a link between us and our Market Business Representatives. These officials are our vital promotional partners and should always be informed on the latest trends and developments in Oman to enable them to accurately represent the Sultanate’s image abroad. The new National Tourism Strategy is also a fundamental development that helps our representatives promote the Sultanate in a streamlined and efficient manner. We aim to give our participants the most significant tools to utilise in their efforts to attract tourists to the Sultanate.”
The group will also benefit from experiencing traditional cuisine in local establishments, hosted by The Cave and Bait al Luban, for dinners during their stay in Oman.
