Muscat —Oman Medical Specialty Board organized today the Continuous Professional Development Forum 2026 under the theme "Empowering Health Competencies: Toward Sustainable Professional Learning."
The event was participated by several experts, health leaders, decision-makers, and representatives of health institutions in the Sultanate of Oman.
The forum was held under the auspices of Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Ajmi, CEO of Oman Medical Specialty Board.
The forum aimed to promote the culture of continuous professional development, exchange expertise and experiences among health institutions, and review the latest trends and practices in the fields of training and professional development, thereby contributing to the development of health competencies, elevating the quality of professional practices, and consolidating the concept of sustainable learning in the health sector.
The forum program featured several working papers and specialized presentations addressing topics related to continuous professional development, including moving beyond traditional annual review methods through reviewing a practical experiment, employing artificial intelligence in the medical field, AI-supported solutions to enhance patient safety, and designing continuous professional development programs that contribute to creating institutional change.
The working papers reviewed the importance of professional passion in enhancing health practice, innovation in health training, and transitioning from knowledge to practical application, thereby supporting the development of professional capabilities and the exchange of expertise and experiences among health institutions.
The forum focused on the role of emotional intelligence in enhancing mental health and workforce well-being through continuous professional development, as well as the importance of adopting professional practices that contribute to creating a healthy work environment that encourages learning and development.
The forum emphasized the importance of continuous professional development in keeping pace with scientific and technological developments in the health sector, developing training programs to respond to renewed professional needs, and strengthening cooperation and knowledge and expertise sharing among health institutions and entities concerned with training and development.
The organization of the forum comes as part of Oman Medical Specialty Board's efforts, represented by the Continuous Professional Development Department at the Accreditation Directorate, which is tasked with enhancing the continuous professional development system and supporting the growth of health competencies through encouraging sustainable learning, exchanging expertise, and strengthening cooperation with health institutions in professional development fields.
