
Muscat: The effective exchange rate index of Omani Rial rose by 4.5 percent reaching 118.3 points at the end of June 2026 compared to 113.2 points at the end of June 2025, according to data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The data showed that the total domestic liquidity in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 15.4 percent to OMR29.32 billion by the end of June 2026 compared to OMR25.41 billion during the same period of 2025.
The data further indicated that the narrow money supply increased by 29.8 percent, reaching OMR9.41 billion by the end of June 2026 compared to OMR7.25 billion during the same period last year.
The total amount of cash issued reached OMR1.626 billion, an increase of 4.6 percent compared to OMR1.555 billion at the end of June 2025.
Regarding foreign assets, they recorded an increase of 2.7 percent, reaching OMR7.49 billion by the end of June 2026 compared to OMR7.30 billion during the same period last year.
On the deposits side, private sector deposits with commercial banks and Islamic windows increased by 11.8 percent, reaching OMR24.49, compared to OMR21.91 billion at the end of June 2025.
Total loans and financing granted by commercial banks and Islamic windows also increased by 12.3 percent, reaching OMR38.24 billionby the end of June 2026 compared to OMR34.69 billion during the same period last year.
In contrast, the average interest rate on total loans decreased by 3 percent, reaching 5.325 percent at the end of June 2026, compared to 5.487 percent during the same period in 2025.
