Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), represented by Oman Committee for Sport and Active Society, will organize Olympic Day 2026 on Monday evening under the theme “You Can Do This! Let’s Move” at The Village in Al Hail Al Shamaleyah. The event will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Azzan bin Qais Al Said, Chairman of Oman Olympic Committee, and will be attended by a number of sports personalities and members of the community.
The event is being organized as part of OOC’s commitment to strengthening the presence of sport in society, promoting Olympic values and principles, and encouraging individuals to engage in physical activity. It also provides a community space that brings together sport, education and entertainment, while offering people of different age groups the opportunity to learn about and experience a range of Olympic sports in an interactive environment.
Olympic Day 2026 will feature a diverse programme of sports and interactive activities, including a 1.7-kilometre walk, which provides participants with an opportunity to engage in physical activity collectively. The programme will also feature a range of sports activities and experiences in taekwondo, karate, athletics, badminton, table tennis, teqball, sepak takraw, 3x3 basketball, wheelchair basketball and tennis.
The event will also feature the “Strongest Man” competition, comprising a number of physical strength challenges, including the deadlift challenge (lifting a car) and the weight-carrying challenge (lifting a log). The competition adds a competitive element to the programme and gives participants an opportunity to test their physical abilities in an interactive sporting environment. The winners of the Fitness Challenge will also be announced during the event.
On the awareness side, the event will include a number of educational booths hosted by committees supporting the OOC Board, including Oman Committee for Sports Medicine, Oman Anti-Doping Committee, Oman Committee for Women and Gender Equality in Sport, Oman Athletes Committee, and Oman Committee for Sport for a Sustainable Environment. These booths will provide information and raise awareness among members of the community on topics related to health and physical activity, integrity in sport, women’s empowerment in sport, athletes’ rights and needs, and environmental sustainability, while promoting awareness of the importance of practising sport safely and sustainably.
The event will also feature community and awareness booths in partnership with the Omani Special Olympics Association and the Oman Cancer Association, in addition to a medical screening booth in collaboration with Al Maabilah Health Center. The event is being organized in coordination and cooperation with a number of relevant entities to enhance its awareness and community dimensions and provide members of the community with an opportunity to learn about the services and initiatives offered by the participating organizations.
Children will also have a special place within the Olympic Day 2026 programme, with dedicated entertainment areas featuring skateboarding, drawing and colouring, face painting, as well as a variety of games and activities. These areas will provide families with a fun sporting and recreational experience and encourage children to stay active through play.
Through organizing Olympic Day 2026, OOC seeks to make sport part of the daily lives of members of the community, promote the values of movement, participation and cooperation, and introduce participants to different sports and Olympic values. The event brings together sport, awareness, entertainment and community participation, inviting everyone to get active and discover their ability to practise and enjoy sport.
