Al Mazunah Free Zone attracts 4 investment projects in 2026 first half

Al Mazunah: The Al Mazunah Free Zone, which is managed and operated by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), has succeeded in setting up four investment projects with an investment of OMR620,000, in an area of 2,415,000 square metres, during the first half of 2026.

These projects varied between industrial and logistical activities and export offices, thus raising the total cumulative investment volume in free zone to over OMR141 million. The total leased area exceeds 1.4 million square metres out of the total area allocated to the region, which amounts to 15.36 million square metres. The number of workers in the free zone is 472 workers.

Engineer Ahmed bin Khamis Al-Kasbi, Director General of the Al-Mazyouna Free Zone, confirmed that the zone has completed the readiness of the desalination plant to provide water to the the free zone during the first half of this year and has begun receiving applications for the service.

He also noted that the design work for the basic infrastructure of the fourth phase of the zone, covering an area of 1.5 million square metres, has also been completed.

He pointed out that Madayn plans to implement a group of future projects in the Al-Mazyouna Free Zone, most notably the sovereign gateway project for the zone, and the implementation of an internal irrigation network to increase the green area in the zone.

He told the Oman News Agency that there are a number of projects that the free zone seeks to implement during the current five-year plan.

These include among others, an industrial incubator complex, specialised warehouses with an area of 50,000 square metres in the coming five years.

Also a study is being undertaken to establish a refrigerated warehouse in an area of 1,000 square metres, opening uo of a representative office for the Al Mazunah Free Zone targeting the Yemeni market, a study to sign a memorandum of understanding to establish factories in the the free zone to produce animal feed using the waste of Al Najd farms.

Also there are plans for factories to produce compound fertilizers, a study to establish the infrastructure for the car complex (showrooms and public parking with in area of 50,000 square metres), beside plan to add one megawatt (MW) of solar energy in by studying the implementation of solar-powered lighting and encouraging existing companies to convert 10 percent of their electricity consumption to clean energy, and obligating new companies to install renewable energy systems.

He further explained that the free zone is currently preparing to organise the second edition of the Al Mazyuna Economic Exhibition and Forum, which is scheduled to be held from October 20 to 22. This is in continuation of the success achieved by the first edition, and to enhance trade and investment cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the sisterly Republic of Yemen.

He pointed out that the second edition of this exhibition and forum aims to expand the participation of local and international companies and provide an opportunity to explore investment opportunities and build strategic partnerships, which supports the presence of products and services in regional markets.

This also enhances the role of the Al Mazunah Free Zone as a gateway for trade exchange between the two brotherly countries, that will stimulate in attracting service companies, factories, brand agents, car showrooms, import and export companies, logistics services and food product suppliers, in addition to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The free zone will also provide a platform that brings together investors and business owners, and opens new horizons for cooperation and the establishment of joint projects.

The Al Mazunah Free Zone is one of the strategic pillars supporting economic and commercial development and an important link with the region’s markets to expand the scope of trade exchange, through an integrated infrastructure that keeps pace with the requirements of modern investment.

The incentives it offers include exemption of profits from income tax for 30 years, exemption from the Commercial Agencies Law and customs duties, the possibility of 100 percent ownership of the invested project capital besides other investment incentives that contribute to attracting investors and increasing their confidence in the business environment and raising the level of partnership between the public and private sectors.
