Air alert sirens sound in Bahrain, Kuwait intercepts Iranian drones

Sirens warning of potential aerial threats sounded in Bahrain early on Wednesday amid the latest escalation between the US and Iran. 

Bahrain's Ministry of Interior said in a post on X: "A danger is present. The Ministry of Interior calls upon citizens and residents to adhere to calm, head to the nearest safe place, and follow the news through official channels, to safeguard public safety.

Bahrain is home to a major US naval base where the 5th Fleet is headquartered and has previously been targeted by Tehran.

Kuwait, another US ally in the Mideast region, also said it repelled attacks by "hostile" Iranian drones. 

The State of Kuwait reported that firefighting teams were able today to control a fire that broke out in a residential complex in one of the areas of the Kuwaiti capital after it was targeted by a drone.

The Kuwait News Agency quoted the General Fire Force as saying that the fire had been brought under control, confirming that no human injuries had been recorded and that losses were limited to material damage, calling on everyone to adhere to the safety and security instructions issued by the competent authorities.
