Muscat: Oman's Environment Authority (EA) has reaffirmed that it is closely monitoring developments related to maritime navigation safety in coordination with the relevant government agencies, confirming that no environmental indicators have been detected that would require raising the level of environmental response at this stage.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Authority said it is continuously assessing any potential environmental impacts on the marine environment through an integrated monitoring system. The system includes field surveillance, analysis of satellite imagery and data, and the use of advanced technical monitoring tools to evaluate environmental conditions on an ongoing basis.
The Authority added that it has strengthened its state of preparedness and completed all necessary precautionary measures in coordination with the competent authorities, in line with the National Environmental Emergency Response Plan. It stressed that, to date, no signs have been observed that warrant escalating the environmental response level.
The statement noted that environmental monitoring and assessment efforts will continue, with any significant developments to be announced through official communication channels should the need arise.
The Environment Authority also urged the public to rely on official sources for information and to refrain from circulating unverified news or reports, emphasizing that doing so helps promote public awareness and ensures the dissemination of accurate and reliable information.
