Oman's Al Juma elected Arab Hockey Federation president

MUSCAT: Oman Hockey Association (OHA) president Marwan Al Juma has been elected President of the Arab Hockey Federation for the 2026-2030 term, while Muscat will become the new headquarters of the regional governing body following decisions taken at the Arab Hockey Federation General Assembly held in the Omani capital on Friday.

The General Assembly was attended by International Hockey Federation (FIH) President Tayyab Ikram, former Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Dr Emad Al Banani, former Arab Hockey Federation president Saif Hamed and delegates from Oman, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, the UAE, Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Sudan.

The General Assembly also approved the admission of Bahrain and Iraq as new members of the Arab Hockey Federation and endorsed the relocation of the federation’s headquarters to Muscat.

The newly elected executive board comprises Marwan Al Juma (President); Eng Mohammed Al Mandeel (Saudi Arabia), First Vice-President; Tamer Hosny (Egypt), Second Vice-President; Saad Al Maamari (Vice-President); Madin Ahmed Beit Habza (Secretary-General); Majid Al Houti (Assistant Secretary-General); executive committee members Musab Al Hadi, Khalil Yassin and Abed Awan; and Rudaina Al Hajri as the women’s representative.

Following his election, Al Juma described the outcome as the beginning of a new era for the federation.

“Today marks the start of a new chapter for the Arab Hockey Federation. We will work collectively with all our member federations to strengthen the game across the Arab world, build on our shared experience and enhance the federation’s standing at both the continental and international levels,” he said.

He also thanked the member federations for their confidence and expressed appreciation to FIH President Tayyab Ikram for attending the General Assembly despite his busy international schedule, describing his presence as a strong vote of confidence in the future of Arab hockey.
The meeting also reviewed and approved the federation’s financial report, work programme for the next four years and other governance matters before concluding with the election of the new executive committee.
