Al Buraimi: The Wilayat of Al Buraimi is witnessing continuous progress in the execution of a package of internal road and urban humanization projects, within the framework of efforts exerted to enhance infrastructure, develop service and tourism facilities, and upgrade the efficiency of road networks in the governorate.
Regarding the progress of work on road paving projects, Eng. Obaid Salim Al Kaabi, Director of the Projects Department in Al Buraimi Governorate, stated that the governorate has completed paving 25 kilometers under the first package, where the completion rate of basic works reached 84 percent, while the overall completion rate of the project's works reached 51 percent.
Meanwhile, 20 kilometers were paved in the second package, with a completion rate for its related works reaching 50 percent, bringing the total work completion rate in this package to 33 percent.
In the aspect related to the maintenance of roads affected by weather conditions, the Director of the Projects Department in Al Buraimi Governorate mentioned that the overall completion rate has reached 16 percent. The asphalt paving stage has been completed at 10 sites, and work is underway to complete the necessary protections for them, coinciding with the start of maintenance works at 10 other new sites distributed along the old road linking (Mahdah - Al Fayy) and a number of locations in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi.
He explained that on the front of "urban humanization" and public street development projects, the development project of the public street from Al Salam Roundabout to Al Khadra Roundabout was completed in February of the current year 2026. The project was established on a total area of 35,450 square meters, and its works included the construction of health walkways with a length of 2,688 meters.
He confirmed that work is currently continuing on the development project of the public street from Al Nahdah Roundabout to Al Salam Roundabout, which extends over an area of approximately 90,000 square meters and a length of 4,868 metres.
The project is distinguished by providing integrated and diverse facilities that enhance aesthetic and investment value, including health walkways, green spaces, water features, a bicycle track, alongside restrooms, investment buildings, canopies designated for cafes, and replacing the current lighting poles with modern poles for the public street.
In the same context, the Director of the Projects Department in Al Buraimi Governorate pointed out that the bicycle project is currently in the design stage. The length of the project is 6 kilometers with a width of 3 meters, and it includes facilities and parking spaces dedicated for vehicles and bicycles on an area of 200 square meters, as well as constructing the necessary protections for the track to ensure the safety of its users.
It is worth noting that these projects come within the context of keeping pace with the urban expansion and commercial activity in the governorate, contributing to creating a healthy and ideal environment equipped with all recreational and service facilities for citizens, residents, and visitors.
