Berlin --- The Research and Innovation Authority (RIA) is taking part in events of the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, a multidisciplinary forum being held in Lindau town in the Federal Republic of Germany.
The forum showcased a number of outstanding scientific achievements, including the contributions of Professor John Michael Kosterlitz, the 2016 Nobel Prize winner in Physics, whose discoveries in the properties of materials at low temperatures led to advanced applications in electronics and quantum computing.
Oman’s participation in the forum stems from the RIA’s efforts to enhance the presence of Omani researchers in international scientific forums and enable them to exchange experiences with an elite group of scientists and researchers, keep pace with the latest scientific developments and contribute to the system of research and innovation in the Sultanate of Oman.
The forum's activities included a panel discussion that dealt with mechanisms for setting global research priorities and elaborated about the extent to which current research aligns with human needs. The session saw the participation of Dr. Sarah Hamad Al Araimi, Head of the Biotechnology Department at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS).
