Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, held a meeting today with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.
The meeting was attended and participated by several officials from both sides.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the course of the solid Omani-Qatari relations and the fruitful bilateral cooperation programs across various economic and investment fields. They also discussed strategic partnership opportunities and ways to develop them in a manner that yields greater benefits and interests for the two countries and their peoples.
On another note, the two sides discussed a number of regional and international issues and developments, exploring ways to address them within the framework of the two countries' cooperation and alignment of visions. They highlighted the mutual keenness of both sides to actively contribute to supporting regional stability and creating a more secure and balanced environment in the region.
Furthermore, the two sides discussed developments in the regional scene and the ongoing political and diplomatic actions aimed at containing tensions and creating more sustainable pathways for dialogue and understanding.
They also examined recent updates related to the security of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the smooth flow of trade and energy movement through vital maritime corridors. This, they noted, must be carried out in accordance with the rules of international law, and in a manner that preserves the sovereignty of states, the safety of navigation, and the broader interests of the international community.
The two sides expressed their deep appreciation for the joint efforts exerted by the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar, alongside the relentless efforts of the GCC countries. These efforts come within a framework of integrated coordination and mutual understanding, serving in support of dialogue and peaceful endeavors aimed at reinforcing the pillars of security and stability.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large and Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the State of Qatar, along with a number of officials from both sides.
