Nizwa: Jabal Akhdar Festival 2026 in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate contributes to the enhancement of tourism and economic activity within the governorate.

The festival’s events will commence on 15 July and continue until the end of the August, as part of ongoing efforts to leverage the natural and environmental assets that distinguish the Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar during the summer season.

The festival stands as one of the premier tourism seasons in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, building upon the reputation that the Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar has earned as a leading tourist destination at both the local and regional levels.

It also benefits from the ongoing developmental and investment projects that are helping to enhance the tourism offering and strengthen the wilayat's appeal to visitors and investors alike.

The governorate, in collaboration with various public and private entities, is finalising the organisational, technical and operational preparations for the festival. These include ensuring the readiness of event venues, public facilities, and support services to guarantee an integrated tourism experience for visitors throughout the festival period.

The festival is set to serve as a major platform for stimulating tourism, investment, and economic activity in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, said Sheikh Mahmoud bin Rashid Al Saadi, Wali of Nizwa and Acting Governor of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate,.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Al-Saadi said the festival represents a key development initiative that leverages the governorate’s rich natural and heritage resources while supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), productive families, craftsmen, and farmers.

He noted that the governorate views the festival as an integrated platform to showcase the economic, tourism, and investment opportunities available in the Green Mountain region. The event also aims to strengthen the contribution of the tourism sector to local development in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate’s strategy to diversify economic activities, improve quality of life, and enhance regional competitiveness.

Al-Saadi highlighted that the governorate continuously works to enhance the festival’s content and programs each year, increasing its economic and social impact while attracting more visitors and participants. The improvements also reflect the rapid growth witnessed by the tourism sector across the governorate.

The festival will feature a wide range of tourism, cultural, heritage, entertainment, sports, and community activities, alongside marketing exhibitions and dedicated programs for children, youth, and families. These events are designed to showcase the cultural richness and natural beauty that distinguish Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

The governor emphasised that the festival will continue to provide opportunities for local producers and entrepreneurs. The previous edition attracted 65 participating SMEs, productive families, and farms, while generating more than 100 direct and indirect job opportunities and drawing large numbers of visitors throughout the event.

Al-Saadi also revealed that the festival will coincide with the completion and handover of several development and tourism projects in Jabal Akhdar. These include the Jabal Akhdar Park project, a new celebrations square in Saih Qatna, and additional public facility and service development projects aimed at enhancing the area’s readiness to accommodate growing visitor numbers during future tourism seasons.

The Green Mountain Festival 2026 reflects Al Dakhiliyah Governorate’s commitment to harnessing its natural, heritage, and investment assets to support sustainable economic growth, empower local communities, and attract high-quality investments while transforming tourism seasons into drivers of long-term development.
