
Muscat– The Ministry of Health, represented by the Directorate General of Khoula Hospital, today signed a funding agreement with Al Yusr Charity Foundation to establish an integrated pulmonary unit at the hospital, to the tune of RO 560,000.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al Alawi, Director General of Khoula Hospital, and Omar bin Mohammed Al Farsi, Director General of Al Yusr Charity Foundation.
The establishment of a comprehensive pulmonary unit at Khoula Hospital is in pursuance of the health sector's efforts to achieve sustainable health for all, in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
Dr. Rashid Al Alawi said that the project represents a step forward to develop specialized medical services and enhance the use of modern technologies in diagnosing and treating respiratory diseases in accordance with best global practices. The unit is scheduled start operations in early 2027, he added.
Dr. Rashid pointed out that the establishment of an integrated pulmonary unit helps achieve accuracy in diagnosis, accelerate treatment procedures and minimize complications.
He observed that partnership with Al Yusr Charity Foundation constitutes a model of integration between the public sector and civil society institutions, contributes to supporting national competencies, expanding the scope of specialized services and enhancing the readiness of the health system.
For his part, Omar Al Farsi said, “This kind of cooperation with the health sector is in pursuance of Al Yusr Charity Foundation’s programmes to support the health sector. The foundation’s initiative embodies social responsibility. It aims to develop medical services and meet the health needs of the community.”
The pulmonary unit serves as a significant addition to specialized services at Khoula Hospital. It will provide an integrated system for diagnosing and treating respiratory diseases in one composite facility that deals with microbronchoscopy and respiratory efficiency tests, in addition to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
