IndiGo's Bengaluru-Chennai flight evacuated after smoke detected
Bengaluru: An IndiGo Airbus A321neo on flight 6E6017 from Bengaluru to Chennai triggered an immediate evacuation at Kempegowda International Airport today during taxiing, shortly after pushback from Terminal 1 near gate 40.
A passenger shared on X, 'There was smoke in my Indigo flight... I am still shaking. So scary!' IndiGo confirmed all passengers and crew are safe, provided refreshments at the terminal, and arranged an alternate aircraft for the delayed 50-minute flight. No injuries occurred, airport operations resumed quickly, and the cause of the smoke is under investigation
An IndiGo spokesperson said all passengers and crew members were safe and had been shifted back to the terminal.
“On 26 May 2026, while IndiGo flight 6E 6017 from Bengaluru to Chennai was taxing out to runway for departure, smoke was noticed in the aircraft. In the interest of safety, an immediate evacuation was carried out and all the relevant authorities were informed,” IndiGo Spokesperson said.
