Meeting reviews Omani-Canadian economic relations, promising sectors for joint cooperation

Muscat--- Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, Minister of Economy, received today Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, and her accompanying delegation.

The meeting, held at the Ministry's headquarters, aimed to strengthen the growing economic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Canada and to explore opportunities for bilateral cooperation in trade and investment sectors.

The meeting commenced with a welcoming address in which the Ministry affirmed the depth of relations between the two countries and stressed the importance of building on past joint cooperation to expand the horizons of economic partnership.

The meeting also featured a visual presentation highlighting the key features of the Omani economy and the developments it is undergoing amid changing economic conditions, alongside a review of Omani-Canadian economic relations and promising sectors for joint cooperation.

Discussions during the meeting also covered the priorities of Oman Vision 2040, particularly within non-oil sectors such as manufacturing industries, logistics, technology, and clean energy. In addition, both sides explored ways to expand investment partnerships and improve market access.

The two sides affirmed the importance of cooperation in promising sectors, including clean energy, mining value chains, logistics services, and advanced manufacturing, all of which align with economic diversification targets.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Nasser Rashid Al Maawali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Sayyid Dr. Munthir Hilal Al Busaidi, Head of Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit.
