
Beijing --- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on Pakistan to intensify its mediation efforts between Iran and the United States and to help restore maritime navigation in the Middle East.
Wang spoke by phone with Pakistan’s counterpart, Ishaq Dar, China’s Xinhua News Agency reported.
“China will continue to support Pakistan’s mediation efforts and will make its own contribution in this regard,” Wang said.
President Donald Trump is expected to arrive in China later today. Beijing is a key strategic and economic partner of Tehran.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that both sides affirmed the importance of maintaining a lasting ceasefire and ensuring the normal continuation of navigation.
