Opening of Mahout Hospital to enhance health security

Mahout: Mahout Hospital in Al Wusta Governorate will be inaugurated on Wednesday, marking a significant step reflecting ongoing efforts to develop the healthcare sector in the Sultanate of Oman, achieve health security, support sustainable health development and alleviate the burden of travel and referral on citizens and patients.

The Ministry of Health stated that Mahout Hospital is a prominent developmental health project, constructed in accordance with the latest international standards. Its construction cost amounted to OMR13,920,000, with a total project cost of OMR17,000,000.

The Ministry noted that Mahout Hospital is situated on a total land area of 200,000 square metres, with a built-up area of 17,400 square metres.

It provides primary and secondary healthcare services to the residents of the Wilayat of Mahout and surrounding areas, serving an estimated population of approximately 20,000 people, thereby ensuring efficient healthcare delivery according to global standards.

The Ministry added that the hospital comprises 54 inpatient beds and features a comprehensive array of departments and modern facilities, including: diverse outpatient clinics, an accident and emergency unit, state-of-the-art operating theatres and a delivery suite, fully equipped medical laboratories, a radiology department, inpatient wards, a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for premature infants, a support services building, as well as complete electrical, mechanical, and air conditioning systems, computer networks, and all ancillary services.

It is worth noting that the hospital’s inauguration aligns with the strategic objectives of the health sector under Oman Vision 2040 and embodies the principle of decentralising health services through the establishment of a new healthcare facility offering distinguished specialist services tailored to the nature of Al Wusta Governorate, which spans a vast geographical area.
