
Muscat– The total number of passengers traveling through airports in the Sultanate of Oman (arrivals, departures and transit) recorded an 8.8 percent increase by the end of January 2026, reaching 1,452,911 passengers compared to 1,334,825 passengers during the same period in 2025.
The number of international flights (arrivals and departures) through the Sultanate’s airports reached 8,032 flights by the end of January 2026, compared to 7,820 flights during the same period in 2025, reflecting a growth of 2.7 percent.
Statistics showed that international flights through Muscat International Airport reached 7,594 flights by the end of January 2026, compared to 7,410 flights in the same period last year, an increase of 2.5 percent. Passenger numbers on these flights rose to 1,189,938 compared to 1,109,650 passengers in the same period last year, marking a growth of 7.2 percent.
Domestic flights through Muscat Airport reached 773 by the end of January 2026, while passengers on domestic routes increased to 107,423 compared to 93,895 passengers during the same period last year, a rise of 14.4 percent.
At Salalah Airport, the total number of international and domestic flights increased by 11.4 percent to reach 916 flights by the end of January 2026, compared to 822 flights in the same period last year. Passenger numbers also grew to 150,785, compared to 126,506 passengers, reflecting a 19.2 percent increase.
International flights through Salalah Airport reached 428 flights, up 5.9 percent from 404 flights, while domestic flights totaled 488, an increase of 16.7 percent compared to 418 flights during the same period in 2025.
At Sohar Airport, the total number of international and domestic flights reached 18 flights by the end of January 2026, compared to 10 flights during the same period last year, marking an 80 percent increase.
Meanwhile, Duqm Airport recorded 52 domestic flights (arrivals and departures) by the end of January 2026. Passenger numbers slightly declined by 0.5 percent to 4,749 passengers compared to 4,774 passengers during the same period last year.
Statistics also showed that Omani nationals topped the list of the most active nationalities in incoming and outgoing flights through Muscat International Airport during January 2026, with a total of 195,657 passengers, including 98,339 arrivals and 97,318 departures.
Indian nationals ranked second with 187,904 travelers, including 96,031 arrivals and 91,873 departures, while Pakistani nationals came third with a total of 48,546 travelers, including 24,059 arrivals and 24,487 departures.
