Muscat: Royal Hospital has obtained the Platinum level in the Accreditation Canada International accreditation for 2026 for the second consecutive time, marking a significant achievement that reflects the maturity of its institutional system and its firm commitment to applying the highest standards of quality and patient safety in line with international best practices.
This recognition continues the hospital’s upward journey of excellence. The hospital previously earned the Gold level in 2016 and 2019, followed by the Platinum level in 2023, and has now renewed the distinction for the second time in a row—affirming the sustainability of its institutional performance and the development of its clinical and administrative systems.
The advanced level of accreditation is granted following a comprehensive evaluation covering clinical governance standards, risk management, patient safety, leadership efficiency, continuity of care, and continuous improvement. The assessment also measures performance indicators, patient experience, interdisciplinary integration, and the institution’s adherence to evidence-based standards.
Dr. Amad bin Khamis Al‑Araimi, Director General of the Royal Hospital, told Oman News Agency that the achievement is the result of the collective efforts of all medical, nursing, technical, and administrative staff, noting that the culture of quality has become an integral part of daily practice within the hospital.
He said that renewing the Platinum accreditation confirms that excellence is not a temporary milestone but a sustainable institutional approach, emphasizing that patient safety and healthcare quality remain strategic priorities across all clinical and operational processes.
He added that the achievement demonstrates the Royal Hospital’s ability to keep pace with international standards and strengthens public confidence in the specialized and referral services it provides.
Dr. Al-Araimi also noted that the hospital continues to develop its digital infrastructure, enhance the efficiency of medical supply chains, strengthen the readiness of specialized teams, and expand training and professional accreditation programs to support sustainable performance and keep pace with rapid transformations in the healthcare sector.
For her part, Dr. Suad bint Salem Al‑Ismailia, Senior Consultant in Pediatric Intensive Care and Director of the Quality and Patient Safety Department at the Royal Hospital, told Oman News Agency that the accreditation followed thorough field reviews and evaluation meetings covering various departments and services.
She explained that achieving the Platinum level reflects the effectiveness of the hospital’s quality and patient safety system and the successful implementation of evidence-based policies and procedures, the promotion of incident reporting and analysis culture, proactive risk management, and the engagement of patients and their families as partners in the care journey.
Dr. Al-Ismailia added that maintaining this level requires continued investment in digital transformation, clinical data analysis, and regular monitoring of performance indicators, alongside fostering a work environment based on transparency, accountability, and innovation.
This achievement further reinforces the status of the Royal Hospital as a leading national institution in specialized healthcare and highlights its pivotal role in supporting the quality of health services in the Sultanate of Oman while moving forward toward sustainable institutional excellence.
