Al Khabourah: Nama Water Services continues its efforts to enhance water security and ensure the sustainability of water services through water transmission line projects, most notably the transmission line from South Al Batinah Governorate to North Al Batinah, which was recently completed.
Stemming from this initiative are other projects for water distribution networks in various wilayats, prominently featuring the construction of water distribution networks in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah, which covers several new residential schemes and areas currently not served by networks in the wilayat.
Eng. Ibrahim Said Al Ghunaimi, Project Manager for the construction of water distribution networks in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah, stated that the project currently being implemented in the Al Qasf scheme, the village of Al Qasf, and Dhahrat Al Tawi has reached a completion rate of 31 percent, with a total cost exceeding RO 1.5 million.
In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), he added that the project is part of the company's efforts to ensure the sustainability of water services and keep pace with the increasing demand resulting from population growth and the urban and economic expansion witnessed by the Wilayat of Al Khabourah. He noted that it also contributes to connecting water networks across different wilayats to desalination plants, thereby achieving water security and enhancing integration between basic services in coordination with relevant authorities.
He explained that the project includes more than 483 house connections in the beneficiary villages, serving approximately 2,500 people in the covered areas. The scope of work involves the construction of distribution lines and internal networks exceeding 69 kilometers in length, in addition to two booster pumping stations with a capacity of 100 cubic meters per hour and modern systems for water sterilization to ensure quality.
The Project Manager confirmed that the project will be linked to the National Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system in Muscat Governorate, allowing for high-efficiency management and operation of facilities using the latest technologies.
He further pointed out that the benefit of the project extends beyond service aspects, as it serves as a primary supporter of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the wilayat. The value of works assigned to SMEs within the project's scope has reached RO 250,000. Additionally, the project supports the community through In-Country Value (ICV), which currently stands at approximately RO 267,700. The project also bolsters commercial and service activities and provides direct and indirect job opportunities for the citizens of the wilayat, with 10 jobs created thus far and an expected increase in the coming period.
