Muscat Municipality to use advanced geospatial data for urban growth

Muscat: Muscat Municipality has signed a cooperation agreement with the National Survey and Geospatial Information Authority (NSGIA) aimed at enhancing geospatial data integration and supporting urban planning and sustainable development in the Governorate of Muscat.

The agreement was signed by Eng. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Ameri, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, and Brigadier Nasser bin Ali Al Harthy, Chairman of the National Survey and Geospatial Information Authority.

Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate on the implementation of detailed surveying projects for parks, gardens, and green spaces across Muscat Governorate. The initiative seeks to provide accurate geospatial data to support urban planning, improve facilities management, enhance sustainability, and raise overall quality of life.

The partnership reflects joint efforts to strengthen the use of geospatial information systems in municipal planning and decision-making, contributing to more efficient management of public amenities and alignment with national development priorities.

The agreement underscores the importance of institutional cooperation in leveraging modern technologies to support sustainable urban development and improve public services in the Sultanate of Oman.
