Oman Customs seizes large quantities of alcohol and illegal tobacco products in major raid

Muscat: The Compliance and Risk Assessment Department of Oman Customs has carried out a significant enforcement operation targeting illegal trade activities among expatriate labor sites. The raid resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of contraband items, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.

According to official reports, authorities confiscated more than 16,960 bottles and cans of alcoholic beverages, along with 4,482 cartons of various cigarette brands and 1,444 kilograms of tobacco derivatives. The items were discovered in multiple locations and were being stored in violation of national regulations.

The operation underscores Oman’s ongoing efforts to combat the illegal possession and distribution of restricted goods. Customs officials emphasized that such actions are part of a broader strategy to uphold public safety and enforce trade laws.
