
Muscat— The joint committee between Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and the Ministry of Social Development held its fourth meeting today.
The meeting commenced with a review of the follow-up report on the implementation of recommendations from the third meeting of the joint committee, in addition to discussing topics presented by both sides.
The discussions included the preparation of a guide for the psychological handling of children exposed to violence, and enhancing cooperation in implementing joint training courses related to programs for people with disabilities and the provision of psychological and educational consultations.
The meeting also discussed a set of topics related to preparing a training program for capacity building in the field of social indicator analysis and the development of statistical skills, alongside the inclusion of academic materials in the field of special education addressing the topics of integrating people with disabilities and adapted sports.
Within the framework of research cooperation, the committee addressed the importance of conducting joint studies on family issues and the impact of social media on the value system in Omani society, in addition to studies related to the volunteer work system.
Regarding family empowerment, the committee explored ways to implement training courses for productive families in the fields of handicrafts, e-commerce, digital skills, and small project management. This was alongside studying the allocation of permanent, temporary, or electronic marketing outlets within the university campus to support and market the products of productive families.
The formation of this joint committee between the two parties aims to enhance cooperation, exchange expertise and information, and unify efforts between SQU and the ministry in areas of mutual interest.
