
Muscat: In accordance with the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik – may God protect him – the Shura Council of the Sultanate of Oman will commence its third regular session (2024–2025) of the tenth term (2023–2027) on Sunday, November 9. This follows the provisions of Article 41 of the Law of the Council of Oman.
His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, stated that the Council continues to fulfill its legislative and oversight roles in active partnership with state institutions, in line with the ongoing implementation of Oman Vision 2040. He noted that the first half of the tenth term witnessed the discussion of 47 draft laws and agreements, along with 466 follow-up tools. Additionally, both chambers reached consensus on 14 draft laws, 13 of which were issued as Royal Decrees.
His Excellency added that the third session will include deliberations on the state’s general budget for 2026 and the eleventh five-year development plan (2026–2030). It will also feature the election of members of the Council’s Bureau for the second half of the tenth term, as well as discussions on several draft laws and agreements.
He further noted that the Council will hold its annual media briefing on November 5 to strengthen engagement with media outlets. He affirmed the Council’s commitment to transparency and community partnership, reflecting its role in addressing national issues and supporting development efforts across various sectors.
