610 runners take part in Jabal Akhdar mountain race

Jabal Akhdar: The "Run and Explore" mountain race concluded in the Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar on Saturday evening. The race saw the participation of 450 male and female runners from 24 nationalities, along with 160 children in the race designated for younger age groups, bringing the total number of participants to 610 from within and outside the Sultanate of Oman.

The events included three main races for adults, covering distances of 30 km, 20 km, and 10 km, in addition to a 4 km children's race.

In the men's 30-kilometre race, Omani Amjad Al-Jamudi won first place, while another Omani, Saleh Al-Saeedi, came second, and Musa Salem Al-Subaihi came third.

In the women's category for the same distance, France's Amal Ammari took first place, Iran's Raheela Abdulamir came in second, and China's Liang Hao finished third.

In the men's 20km race, Omani Ghaith Al Saidi won first place, followed by Nader Abdullah in second place, and rising star Aws Al Shabibi in third. Musab Al Awaimri won first place in the boys' 1-kilometre category, with Imad Al Hanai coming in second and Mohammed Al Fahdi in third.

This race is an important milestone in the Omani mountain running calendar and an ideal preparation for runners to participate in the Himam Mountain Running Race, scheduled for December 2025, which is considered one of the most prominent sporting events in the region.

This event contributed to stimulating tourism in the state of Jabal Akhdar, attracting visitors from within and outside the Sultanate. It also helped highlight the region's natural and cultural assets and strengthen its position as an ideal destination for sports and adventure tourism.

The event raised awareness of the importance of outdoor exercise and its role in promoting a healthy lifestyle, while also providing children with the opportunity to participate in a stimulating, competitive environment.

The award ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr Dr. Said Harib Al Lamki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs, who crowned the top winners. He praised the level of organisation and the growing demand for such events, which reflect the Sultanate of Oman's vision of promoting community sports and making them a tributary of tourism and economic development.
