Muscat: The Command of the Sultan's Armed Forces (COSAF) on Tuesday organised a symposium on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) within the SAF. The event was held under the auspices of Maj. General Mohammed bin Rabia Al Shujaybi, Assistant Head of the Internal Security Service for Operations, with participation from several military and security units and government institutions.
Held at the Al Shafaq Club of the Sultan's Armed Forces, the symposium's programme covered several key themes: AI for operational readiness; Governance of military use of AI; Security and ethical challenges in using AI and AI in military strategic planning and cyber defense.
The symposium aimed to enhance the knowledge and technological expertise of the Sultan's Armed Forces personnel in AI to align with sustainable development goals. It also sought to study the latest technological advancements and national efforts being made to address the current and future impacts of artificial intelligence.
