New York: As part of its participation in the opening of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Sultanate of Oman today took part in the launch of the “Declaration for the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel” at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
This declaration stems from the international community's political and humanitarian will to ensure safe and rapid delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians impacted by conflicts.
The declaration was signed on behalf of the Sultanate of Oman by Ali bin Ahmed Al Najjar, member of the International Organizations Department at the Foreign Ministry.
Prior to the start of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Omar bin Said Al Kathiri, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations (UN), participated in a coordination meeting of foreign ministers of GCC states.
During the meeting, the ministers exchanged views about strategic relations and dialogue between GCC states and global blocs. They also reviewed regional and international developments.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large at the Foreign Ministry, held a meeting with Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The meeting dealt with various aspects of joint cooperation on matters of common interest. The two sides also exchanged views about regional and international issues.
