Muscat: The opening ceremony of the 34th edition of the Global Technology Exhibition “COMEX 2025” was held today under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The event highlights cutting-edge technological trends, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, space industry developments, digital transformation, and modern innovations, in addition to pioneering solutions across multiple sectors.
The opening ceremony of COMEX 2025 witnessed the signing of new agreements worth OMR 42 million related to digital transformation, and the launch by government institutions of several electronic platforms and applications, such as the National Platform for Suggestions, Complaints, and Reports (Tajawab).
His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology: "The digital economy's contribution to the targeted GDP is 10 percent by 2040."
His Excellency: "The Sultanate of Oman is witnessing a remarkable rise in the digital investment sector, as the total value of agreements signed at COMEX 2024 reached approximately OMR 200 million , while the value of agreements signed by Omani technology companies at the LEAP 2025 conference in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reached approximately OMR 40 million ."
His Excellency reviewed a series of technical projects that will be launched as part of the "COMEX 2025" activities, most notably:
• 30 new services in the unified portal for digital services
• A new mobile phone application and smart assistant
• The national portal for open data
• "Thiqa" services for digital certification
• The Omani language model "Ma'een"
