Marrakesh: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the proceedings of the third session of the Marrakesh Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Region of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM). The Omani delegation to the forum was represented by Hamad bin Nasser Al Nabhani and Sheikh Sultan bin Mattar Al Azizi, members of the State Council.
Over two days, the forum discussed several key topics, including the macroeconomic outlook for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions, shifts in international trade and finance in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions, energy transition, adaptation and energy security: strategic choices, as well as artificial intelligence (AI) and governance of its use: enhancing parliamentary oversight.
During the forum sessions, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Additionally, the role of the International Initiative to Facilitate Sahel Countries' Access to the Atlantic Ocean was highlighted, presenting a strategic and innovative vision for peace, security, and shared development.
