Road safety panel holds meeting to reduce accidents

Muscat: The National Road Safety Committee on Monday held a meeting chaired by Lt. Gen Hassan Mohsin Al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs.

During the meeting, which took place at the General Directorate of Traffic, the panel members reviewed traffic statistics, public awareness programmes and the role of authorities concerned in taking measures to cut down the number of road accidents.

The committee lauded the cooperation of citizens and residents through adherence to traffic rules. Such cooperation contributed to achieving high levels of road safety, evidenced by a tangible decline in road accidents, as indicated by statistics, the committee observed.
