Muscat: The total number of vehicles registered in the Sultanate of Oman reached 1,728,931 by the end of September 2024, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Vehicles with private registration constituted 79.6% of the total vehicles registered in Oman to stand at 1,376,221, while the number of vehicles with commercial registration reached 251,305.
Meanwhile, taxi vehicles reached 28,174. The number of rental vehicles reached 37,890. The number of government vehicles stood at 11,849 and motorbikes stood at 7,534.
The number of driving school vehicles stood at 5,247, and the number of vehicles with temporary registration (temporary inspection, export and import) stood at 8,575.
Moreover, the number of tractors stood at 1,256 and vehicles with diplomatic entity registrations stood at 880.
Among colours, white was the most preferred colour for vehicles in Oman with 735,599. Silver was the second choice with 222,890, while gray came as the third most prominent vehicle colour with about 166,549 vehicles.
The number of registered vehicles in terms of engine capacity between 1,500 and 3,000 ccs reached 939,398 vehicles, while the number of vehicles of engine capacity between 3,001 and 4500 ccs reached 386,743, and those with an engine capacity of less than 1,500 ccs reached 138,251. The number of vehicles without an engine (vehicle designed and manufactured to be towed or towed by another vehicle) reached 48,083 vehicles.
As for vehicles registered per weight, the number of vehicles weighing less than 3 tonnes stood at 1,568,048, over 10 tonnes stood at 72,674, between 3-7 tonnes stood at 50,115 and between 7-10 tonnes stood at 38,094.
