We Love Oman: Spectacular waterfalls attract visitors

It is said, "There is a waterfall in every dream. Cool and crystal clear, it falls gently on the sleeper, cleansing the mind and soothing the soul." Of the many natural wonders found in Oman, the spectacular waterfalls are one of the main attractions for tourists visiting the Sultanate.

In Dhofar, Wadi Darbat waterfall is seasonal and falls from a height of 100 metres. While Ayn Khor waterfall  in Raysut is known for its crystal clear water, Athom waterfall which is 15 metres in height, is located at the top of Wadi Khushaim in the east of the city of Salalah. It is accessible via the road leading to Taqah.

The Ministry of Tourism has worked to improve the site of the waterfall so as to make it easier for tourists to access. Gogob waterfall in Salalah is characterised by the flow of water from different places within the same area, before it falls from the top of the mountain, collecting in pools below, providing visitors with a natural, beautiful view.

If you visit Wadi Al Hawqayn you will see the beautiful waterfalls and ever-flowing water springs.  And for those visiting Wadi Tiwi once you enter the narrow streets of Mibam village  and walk through the houses, you’ll see some stairs leading you down into Wadi Tiwi. From here as you walk further  you will reach the ‘Mibam waterfall’ at the bottom of Mibam village.

Al Hail waterfall in Wadi Al Arbaeen in Al Sharqiyah Governorate is not frequently visited by tourists as it requires a long period of walking and swimming.  The waterfall at Wadi Sharja at Jabal Al Khor, in Ibri is a scenic spot for visitors to visit.
