Four arrested for possessing large quantities of cigarettes, chewing tobacco

Muscat: Four people have been arrested by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) for possessing cigarettes and chewing tobacco.

A statement issued online by ROP said, "Al-Dakhiliya Governorate Police Command has arrested two persons belonging to the Asian community on the charges of possessing cigarettes and chewing tobacco and had the intention of trafficking in them. More than 540 packs of cigarettes and 50 bags and boxes of chewing tobacco were found in their possession."

ROP also said, "The Lima Police Station, led by the Musandam Governorate Police, also arrested two persons of Asian nationality on charges of smuggling chewed tobacco. They were in possession of 50 boxes and bags of various types of chewing tobacco. Legal measures were taken against the accused."
