Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning issues conditions for renting real estate

Muscat: Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning issued conditions for renting real estate located in the prohibited places to non-Omanis.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning said, “Organisational measures to activate the law prohibiting non-Omani ownership of land and real estate in places of the embargo, which will be effective from 19 November 2020.

The Ministry has issued, "Conditions for renting non-Omanis to real estate located in the prohibited places. Registration of the lease contract, for the building to exist, attaching the required documents, and the lease contract will not be registered until after submitting a certificate to the competent authority issued by the Ministry with no objection."

That the purpose of renting housing or practicing commercial or industrial business only, that the term of the lease contract is one year similar to the same conditions, registration of the lease contract with the competent municipality.

“The required documents are a copy of the title deed, the survey drawing (sketch of the property), a copy of the tenant's valid passport, and a copy of the tenant's valid ID card."

“A copy of the commercial register, a certificate of completion of construction, an undertaking specifying the purpose of renting housing, doing business, or industrial), an undertaking from the tenant that the building is for his personal use and not renting it to others.
