Muscat: British School Muscat (BSM) recently held its leavers celebration at the Bait Al Zubair museum in Muscat for 84 students, who will graduate from year 11 and 13 when they complete their GCSE and A-level exams in May and June this year.
Over 200 parents, staff and students attended the event.
“The event was all about celebrating the achievements of our Year 11 and 13 students, both academically and more widely across the school. As they reach the end of their time for GCSEs and A-Level courses, it was an opportunity to pause and celebrate the incredible talent that these students have developed at BSM and the exciting promise they hold for the future. Last night was our chance to congratulation them on all they have achieved so far, celebrate with them and say farewell,” said Matt Hall, deputy head of the Senior school at BSM.
The celebrations consisted of a colourful display of some of the best of works of students in all areas, such as art, dance and sports. Artwork by the students was displayed at the venue and an Oscar-winning film was also shown during the event.
Apart from that, musical performances by Year 12 students, Paulo Cruz and Mattijs Berendsden, a dance extract by Year 11 students, Abby Bridson, Ruby Stafford and Ellie Sellers and the winning film from a recent Oscar night – ‘Just Around the Corner’ by Hanzade Gulzedemirci were also showcased at the event. The Director of Sport and International Award also gave updates on the successes of the sporting year. “Three of our sixth form students (18-year-old) are leaving the school this summer having been here since nursery—Omar Al-Farsi, Ghalib Ashraf and Gauher Ashraf,” Hall added. The event was supported by Al Zubair Corporation.
