Muscat: Two young Omanis will represent the Sultanate at the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting which will begin on Sunday, 30 June at Lindau Island, Bavaria, Germany.
This year’s Meeting is dedicated to physics with a focus on dark matter and cosmology, laser physics and gravitational waves.
Abdulrahim Rashid Al Balushi, a PhD student in theoretical physics at the University of Waterloo in Canada, and Dr. Sausan Al Riyami, Renewable Energy Researcher, will attend and have the opportunity to meet with up to 600 young scientists from 89 countries around the world. In addition, they will meet with the Nobel Laureates who will be visiting the prestigious event this year.
Each year, a scientific review panel that is appointed by the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting is responsible for evaluating the numerous applications submitted by young scientists to participate. Eligible candidates must not be older than 35-year-old, showing a genuine interest in science and research, and receive strong support for their application from their academic advisor and/or by internationally renowned scientists. They should not have participated in previous Lindau meetings, and must commit themselves to be present for the complete duration of the meeting.
