Muscat: More than 8,000 job seekers visited the Omanisation Career Fair on day one alone, according to the organisers.
“There has been a super turnout from the time it started yesterday, we recorded 8,000 visitors yesterday, there are lots of people enquiring about jobs, and that is something to do with the current scenario,” said Ashit Barnes, Exhibition Director of OITE.
Major companies like ORPIC, Zubair Corporation and 50 other participating companies have advertised for attractive positions at the fair. Two companies from the UAE have also taken part at the fair this year.
Screening applications
“Lots of companies are collecting CVs and screening of applications is on, Oman Air has been the biggest attraction, and ORPIC, Zubair Corp, TATI and Renaissance have also received lots of visitors. Besides the job offers, there are also seminars taking place, there was a conference on digital education and trends, something that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education may be looking to adapt and there are also seminars on Omanisation and creating links between education and employment,”
Ashit added.
Oman Air has been a major attraction at the event, not only because of their prime location but also because of the attractive jobs it is offering. “We have been accepting a lot of CVs, the place has been full from the time it started, and only on the first day we received close to 500 CVs for just customer service positions, and there are four other fields we are offering jobs in, including Pilots, Cabin Crew, Reservation and Ticketing Agents and trainees,” said Ashath Al Kindy, Omanisation In-Charge for Human Resources at Oman Air.
Humaid, an engineering graduate and a job seeker who came to the exhibition said that he was happy with the number of major companies that were taking part.
Temporary jobs
“I have been looking for a job for six months now, I am only doing some temporary jobs at the moment, so this fair has helped me meet many of the recruiting officials of some large companies and I have submitted by CV to a few, and now hoping for the best.”
Zahra, another graduate was positive about finding a job through the fair, “I am a graduate in engineering and I have a job right now but looking for a better placement. It’s my first time at a fair like this one and I am very hopeful that I will be able to find a decent job with one of the bigger companies.”
Meanwhile Al Kindy has also cautioned people to be careful about the information that comes to them about Oman Air at the fair, “Any information that Oman Air sends out to the public will be done through proper channels and with the logo of the company, so it is advised that people double check the information that comes to them, and the source as well, about the jobs that we are offering and about the process
of recruitment.”
Oman Air is also the Lead Sponsor of the fair, which will be held from April 19 to 21 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Muscat.
Dr Rashid Mohammed Al Ghailani, Executive Vice President – Human Resource at Oman Air also said, “This year we are particularly interested in recruiting customer service agents and cabin crew.
“We offer outstanding pay and conditions, along with the high level of pride and satisfaction that comes with working for what is probably the world’s most-recognised Omani brand.”
