Muscat: The 26th edition of Comex – the leading IT, Telecom and Technology exhibition concluded recently.
The expo was inaugurated by Dr Ahmed bin Salim Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Telecommunications in the presence of Sayyid Taimur bin As’ad bin Tariq Al Said, assistant secretary general for Communication, The Research Council, Oman and Sayyid Sulaiman bin Hamoud Al Busaidh, deputy secretary general at State Council.
The show featured 100 participants from Oman and other countries exhibiting cutting edge technologies in the telecommunication and IT sector. Key participants were Omantel, GBM, Oreedoo, Awasr, Microsoft, Huawei, Oman Computer Services, Al Zubair Telecommunications, OBM, Lenevo, Kaspersky, Bahwan Mart, Panasonic, and Samsung in addition to many well-known companies in Oman such as MG Group, Telecom Oman and Oman Phone, says a press release.
Over 2,500 business visitors and more than 90,000 consumer visitors attended the five days event. The exhibition’s main theme this year was built around Internet of Things (IoT) and its current and future applications such as smart home, smart banking, digital education and e-tailing.
During the event, an exclusive print coverage was given to business exhibitors in Times of Oman and Al Shabiba newspapers after exclusive partnership with them. This exclusive coverage was in front of 500,000 print readership, 1,000,000 online viewership and 612,383 social media audience.
Comex Smart Talks was introduced first time this year with the theme ‘Smart gateway to growth & innovation’, it was powered by Telecom Oman. The main sessions during smart talks were IoT, Smart City, Enhancing tourism through ICT, Banking innovation and e-tailing.
It was there for first three days of the event in which 20 renowned local and regional speakers shared their ideas and knowledge in front of over 75 delegates.
Comex Demo Zone was another feature that was introduced first time this year in which the opportunity was given to companies to showcase their products and services by giving live demo of them in front of 90,000 visitors.
Companies like OBM, Vision Solution, FANAP, Panamax, United young generation, Takween IT, MG Group and many more were part of this and demonstrated their products and services.
Aside from business section, visitors also enjoyed great deals on mobiles, tablets and electronics of their interest in Comex Shoppers. For first, time a Lazer demonstrations and hands-on gaming experience was introduced which attracted huge number of visitors.
Next year Comex would be taking place in newly built Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre for which the dates will be announced soon. This will definitely give opportunity to more companies to exhibit in this prime ICT exhibition and it will also accommodate more visitors to visit the event.
