Indian School Salalah bags math quiz competition

Muscat: As far as the laws of Mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality, said Albert Einstein in his book, “The World of Mathematics.”
Six decades later, Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir revised that cliché of Einstein to let us realise the disparity between certainty and reality in the world of Mathematics. The school offered a moment to commemorate a substantial soul, who has remained unsung—Dr. Ramanujan.
The Mathematics Society of Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir paid tribute to the man “Who Knew Infinity,” by organising the “Vision of Infinity”—an inter-school Mathematics quiz competition at the school’s multi-purpose hall on January 10.
Game show
Besides the hosts, other Indian schools from Seeb, Sohar, Sur, Salalah, Ghubra, Muscat, Maabela and Muladha joined in the game show.
The august audience was credibly on cloud nine to receive the nine jewel schools rightly represented by their quizzical binaries.
The ensemble of the synergic scenario was embellished with an ennead of episodes–nine rich rounds of matchless math-based interrogations: the Math Movie Quiz, Dr. Srinivasa Ramanujan Iyengar Quiz, Activity Round Alpha, Activity Round Beta, Picture Round, Activity Round Gamma, Buzzer Round and Rapid Fire. The waves of the mathematical mêlée among the participants entertained the audience too.
Quizmaster Sanjeet Das, the head of Department-Mathematics made the entire event an exemplary exploitation of technology, bolstered by the milieu of the multi-purpose hall.
Indian School Salalah took away the winner’s trophy, followed by the Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir, which finished in the runner-up position.
