Tokyo: The Sultanate’s embassy in Tokyo reassured citizens, yesterday, on the safety of Omani students living in various areas affected by the 6. 4 magnitude earthquake which had hit Kyosho, Southwest of Japan, on Thursday.
The embassy said in a statement that the earthquake’s most powerful impact was at Kumamoto, which led to the death of nine persons and injury to 864 others, destruction of houses and fires, according to the latest statistics.
The embassy officials urged students and citizens to contact the embassy in case of emergency.
The Omani embassy also urged Omanis residing or visiting Japan to register their details with the embassy.
