Muscat: The board of Directors of BankDhofar held an emergency meeting to discuss the effects of cyclone Mekunu.
The cyclone, which hit the governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta, recently, caused damages in properties of citizens. In the demonstration of its solidarity with the affected families, and with the aim of supporting rebuild works, the Board of Directors of BankDhofar decided to contribute with OMR1 million to support affected families.
On the initiative, Abdul Hakeem Omar Al Ojaili, CEO of BankDhofar said, “This initiative highlights BankDhofar’s leading role in lending support of various social and economic cases. The bank provided support during previous cyclones that hit the Sultanate including cyclone Gonu. As we all know that cyclone Mekunu left damages on properties, the Board of Directors contributed with OMR1 million in a demonstration of our support to the citizens in Dhofar and Wusta governorates and to repair the damages in their properties.”
The amount will be managed in coordination with Oman Charity Organisation. Within the same context, BankDhofar has announced earlier loan instalment deferments for customers in Dhofar Governorate in the translation of its support to the affected families.
