Muscat: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in line with its vision ’To serve you better, everyday’ and commitment to partnership in promoting community activities, joined children for Qaranqasho celebrations across Oman as part of its month-long ‘Ramadan Al Khair’ programmes.
The bank organised a grand Qaranqasho celebration in the Wilayat of Rustaq where children turned out in large numbers and enjoyed the night singing Qaranqasho. The bank employees joined the celebrations organised at Bait Al Gharbi Museum in Al Qasra Village and presented gifts and sweets to the children.
The bank supported Qaranqasho celebrations organised by Muscat Municipality at Muscat Grand Mall. The celebrations included a variety of exciting activities and games in which the bank presented attractive gifts to the children. The bank also joined Qaranqasho celebrations organised at Avenues Mall and Barka Mall and presented gifts and sweets to the large turn-out of children. The bank utilised the opportunity to highlight al Mazyona children’s savings account.
The traditional Qaranqasho celebration held on the night before the 15th day of the holy month of Ramadan is aimed at rewarding children for successfully fasting during the first half of the month and encouraging them to continue through the second half. Dressed in traditional costumes, children visit their neighbourhood homes singing Qaranqasho songs and collect sweets. The celebrations help children develop community bonding.
Marking the Holy Month of Ramadan, Bank Muscat lines up a series of social, cultural and religious activities. The varied Ramadan activities by the bank include Iftar gatherings for stakeholders and customers, al Wathbah Ramadan Souq to promote SMEs.
The Tadhamun initiative launched in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development is a major Ramadan CSR programme, which reaches out to social welfare families across the Sultanate, helping them to cope with the arid weather conditions. The programme focuses on the distribution of basic electronic home appliances, including air-conditioners and refrigerators, to beneficiary families.
The Tadhamun convoy of vehicles carrying the bank’s employees and volunteers distributed basic electronic home appliances to over 140 beneficiary families in the governorates of Muscat, Dakhiliyah, Dhahirah and Sharqiyah. As part of the bank’s sustainability vision, the distribution of basic home appliances to an average 150 beneficiary families every year contributes to a safe, healthy environment for children and adults to enjoy comfortable lives.
Aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs, the bank in association with Riyada - the Public Authority for SME Development, organised the annual al Wathbah Ramadan Souq at the bank's head office. Giving wings to start-up business establishments, the 3-day exhibition showcased a wide range of products, including designer apparel, accessories, food items, home decorations and much more at competitive prices. The Ramadan Souq fulfils a critical need in creating avenues to successfully market SME products by women.
