Muscat: The Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) Main Military Committee for the Management of Emergency Conditions continued its meetings at SAF Command at Mua’askar Al Murtafa’ to review the existing measures taken to address the effects of the tropical cyclone ‘Mekunu’ and restore conditions to normality.
The meeting was chaired by Brigadier Hamad bin Rashid al- Balushi, Assistant SAF Chief of Staff for Operations and Planning, SAF representative in National Committee for Civil Defence and Head of the Military Main Committee for the Management of Emergency Conditions in the presence of SAF corps representatives at the National Civil Defence Committee, the Royal Guard of Oman, the Sultan’s Special Force, the Engineering Service at the Ministry o Defence and the National Survey Authority .
The committee reviewed the effects of Mekunu and the support and supply efforts by SAF. It also reviewed the operations of all formations, bases and units at the Ministry of Defence and SAF with relation to providing support to citizens, restoring conditions to normality and addressing the effects of the adverse tropical conditions.
The Committee followed the work of all sub-committees, brigades, formations and bases operating in the fields. The Committee allocated the necessary resources to restore conditions to normality as per the general plan of the Main Military Committee for the Management of Emergency Conditions, which is directly supervised by the Lt. Gen Ahmed bin Harith bin Nasser Al Nabhani, SAF Chief of Staff.
