Brunei Darussalam: The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs handed over 238 Arabic language textbooks to its counterpart in Brunei Darussalam in support of the efforts to improve the level of teaching and learning the Arabic language in the country, which are taught at the primary level in the Sultanate.
The textbooks, received by the Embassy from the Ministry of Education in the Sultanate, were handed over to the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Brunei Darussalam by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskari, Sultanate’s Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam. The Ministry oversees Arab and religious schools in Brunei.
This came at an official ceremony held by the ministry in an Arab school under its supervision in the presence of Dato Haj Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Laila Haj Mohammad Yousef, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskary said that the initiative of presenting this package of textbooks is complementary to the initiatives adopted by the Embassy, in coordination with the concerned authorities in Brunei to contribute to the dissemination of the Arabic language among people in Brunei, as well as supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Brunei to promote the teaching and learning of Arabic in Arab and religious schools in Brunei.
He added that these efforts have resulted in the establishment of two Omani publication corners, one of which is at the library of the University of Sultan Al-Sharif Ali Islamic University.
It contains more than five hundred copies and the other one is at the University of Brunei Darussalam.
It contains over 700 publications dealing with the contributions of Omani scientists, thinkers and researchers in enriching intellectual and literary production to meet the needs of students of science and researchers in many types of knowledge, especially with regard to Oman.
Dato Haji Abdulaziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Laila Al Haj Mohammed Yousef praised the major role played by the Sultanate’s Embassy in promoting communication between the two friendly peoples and to introduce and spread the Arabic language in Brunei.
He expressed his appreciation and interest in the textbooks taught in the primary stages in the Sultanate.
He affirmed that the textbooks will contribute effectively to enrich the process of teaching and learning the Arabic language in Brunei Darussalam.
